三仲丁基硼氫化鋰是一種高選擇性的強還原劑。用于酮的非對稱選擇還原得到醇，也可用于烯酮的1、4共軛加成還原得到酮或醇，用于選擇性還原環外丙烯腈衍生物的共軛雙鍵和碘化物。用于二酯、脫鹵單環嘧啶、重排5-三甲基甲硅烷基蒂巴因和脫保護的N-甲氧羰基的阿片樣物質取代N-非阿片類反應中，它也是一種有效的去對稱內消旋試劑。在低溫條件下可有效還原共軛羰基化合物。
This product is an exceptionally powerful and highly stereoselective reducing agent .It has been used for the diastereoselective reduction of the ketones to give the alcohol,selective 1\4-reduction of the enones by conjugate addition of hydride to afford ketones or alcohols,conjugate reduction of exocyclic acrylonitrile derivatives,reduction of the double bond and iodide.It has slso been found to be an efficient reagent for the desymmetrization of meso-diesters,dehalogenation of monohalopyridenes,rearrangement of 5-trimethylsilythebaine and deprotection of N-carbomethoxy-substituted opioids to N-noropioids.At low temperatures,it can reduce conjugated carbonyl compounds effectively.
